Here are releases that I’ve been sent in the last 24 hours.

[From Megan Stoner] Hi Sammual, Pioneer Electronics, the first manufacturer to offer in-dash iPhone 5 compatibility as well as dozens of apps for the vehicle, is excited to announce today the release of the new AppRadio 3 in-dash technology platform. The new AppRadio brings the smartphone experience directly into the dashboard, transforming any car into a “connected car.” Pioneer’s new AppRadio is the direct result of the company’s legacy of creating technology that continues to meet consumers’ evolving needs and demands, offering new enhanced features. ” More on this story

[From Emily] This morning HowAboutWe Dating Version 2.0 launched in the App store! This is a full app redesign - a complete overhaul - and demonstrates how HowAboutWe, the modern love company, once again is fundamentally changing the online dating experience.

My daily use of cloud computing

I was very slow at catching up with cloud computing, however now that I use it on a daily basis I find I cannot live without it. Take photos for example, pictures that I take on my iPhone are automatically uploaded to the cloud and are synchronised on my iPad and apple MacBook Air. I don’t have to think about it, it’s just automatically does what it needs to do and within any few minutes my photographs are synchronised across all my computers.

Also I get a lots of good, quality use from Google Drive. All my documents are now uploaded to it, all important information such as airline tickets, Important pieces of information, paperwork are all stores in Google Drive. Again I have this information whenever I needed on all of my computers such as iPhone, iPad and MacBook. I won’t pretend to know how all of this works both its just does and maybe I am very fortunate but I have never experienced problems using cloud solutions from either Apple or Google.

I’m still learning, I know there are many other reasons to use cloud computing and I will figure it out as time goes by. But I am thankful for it and I will continue to use these solutions as they make my everyday life that bit easier. I hope you have a great Friday. As always this editorial is dictated and uploaded using my iPhone 5.

Baseball Season!

[From nick
Western Mass] I’ve been really enjoying listening to Red Sox games via the MLB At Bat app. It’s one of those apps I don’t mind re-purchasing each year and each year the quality of the app improves—more features, better user interface. It’s great to keep up with baseball wherever I am.

An excellent aide-mémoire: my iPhone

[From John in Brussels] Hi Sammy, I use the camera on my iPhone 5 as a way to support my memory. If I need to recall a serial number of one of my devices, I just take a photo of the tiny sticker with those details on it - no need to commit it to memory, or write it down somewhere obscure. The iPhone’s camera can handle such macro shots easily enough. Or if I see a particularly mouth-watering recipe in a restaurant: out comes the iPhone to record both the menu as well as the resulting dish. A great repository of memories, stored for me by my smartphone!

Watching films on my iPad

[From Mike Sharples] Hi Sammy I love staying in bed and watching rented films on my iPad, it’s a lazy yet nice way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon, snuggling up in bed watching films on my iPad.

Apple Testing Budget iPhone For Later This Year In Colors Like Blue, Pink, Green And Orange

[From Stephen Trew] The key question is how much cheaper? “Apple is rumored to be working on a budget iPhone targeted at emerging markets. The device will allegedly be made of plastic and look like an iPod touch in the back and an iPhone 5 in the front. Other reports have claimed that Apple is working on multiple color variations beyond the traditional black and white.” More on this story

Microsoft caught out?

[From Stephen Trew] Bad karma for Microsoft. This reminds me of the fake video ‘made on a Nokia Lumia’. “Alongside its TV ads, Microsoft has put up a new webpage called “iPad vs. Windows.” At the bottom of the comparison it says that the ASUS ViviTab “has a bigger touchscreen” than the iPad. False. Elliot Temple did some calculations on his blog, and he was able to determine that Microsoft skewed the numbers to say that the ASUS tablet had a 10.1-inch display vs. the iPad’s 9.7-inch display. “This is not to scale,” according to Elliot. “Microsoft has drawn a 10.1 inch tablet 36% larger than a 9.7 inch tablet (140×78 pixels vs 102×79). This is so far off you can visually see it’s wrong.”” More on this story

Google Considering Buying Waze For Around $1 Billion

[From Stephen Trew] Acquisitions are hot business right now. “Google is considering a buyout of Waze, the mapping app for iPhone and Android that specializes in crowd-sourced information. Waze’s asking price is around $1 billion, according to a new report from Bloomberg. Other big tech companies have been courting the map startup, most notably Facebook.” More on this story

New Advertisement ‘Music Every Day’

[From Stephen Trew] Another cool new ad from Apple. “Music is what started it all for the modern Apple with the iPod back in 2001. Tell us how you are using it whether it be for pleasure or business. You MUST give your user thought a title that is relevant to what you are saying. Then send it to me via email and the first person who correctly does this can have the MacBook Air. It is a great looking phone, better than the Galaxy S4 for sure. “HTC has sold “around five million” of its flagship smartphone, the One, since launch. The impressive figure will abate fears that HTC is dead in the water (the company is struggling internally) but does confirm what we all suspected: it HTC isn’t able to keep up with Samsung in sales. The company’s largest rival in the Android smartphone space recently announced that it’s shipped 10 million Galaxy S4s in less than a month.” Read in full

Why iPhone repair costs have soared

[From Stephen Trew] If you just paid through the nose for an Apple repair you might like to read this. “A broken screen can now cost more than $200 to fix … The company charges as much as $229 to replace an iPhone 5 with a broken screen. Weather it’s Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings, promotions, or Christmas a simple text, call, pic or even a special order gift delivery directly from my Palm makes all the difference to those friends and family. The internet has changed communications, music and now it is changing Television. My family watch about half our television using internet catch up services like iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD. The kids probably watch 75% of TV streaming over the net. There has been much talk of an Apple TV, my guess is they will launch it just at the tipping point and the world will say Apple changed it all, again.

Just using native OS apps today

[From Ken (Atlanta, GA)] Sammy, I used my iPhone today to make calls from the US to Asia early this morning while on my way to swim.
