My daily use of cloud computing

I was very slow at catching up with cloud computing, however now that I use it on a daily basis I find I cannot live without it. Take photos for example, pictures that I take on my iPhone are automatically uploaded to the cloud and are synchronised on my iPad and apple MacBook Air. I don’t have to think about it, it’s just automatically does what it needs to do and within any few minutes my photographs are synchronised across all my computers.

Also I get a lots of good, quality use from Google Drive. All my documents are now uploaded to it, all important information such as airline tickets, Important pieces of information, paperwork are all stores in Google Drive. Again I have this information whenever I needed on all of my computers such as iPhone, iPad and MacBook. I won’t pretend to know how all of this works both its just does and maybe I am very fortunate but I have never experienced problems using cloud solutions from either Apple or Google.

I’m still learning, I know there are many other reasons to use cloud computing and I will figure it out as time goes by. But I am thankful for it and I will continue to use these solutions as they make my everyday life that bit easier. I hope you have a great Friday. [From nick Western Mass] I’ve been really enjoying listening to Red Sox games via the MLB At Bat app. It’s one of those apps I don’t mind re-purchasing each year and each year the quality of the app improves—more features, better user interface. It’s great to keep up with baseball wherever I am.

[From John in Brussels] Hi Sammy, I use the camera on my iPhone 5 as a way to support my memory. If I need to recall a serial number of one of my devices, I just take a photo of the tiny sticker with those details on it - no need to commit it to memory, or write it down somewhere obscure. The iPhone’s camera can handle such macro shots easily enough. Or if I see a particularly mouth-watering recipe in a restaurant: out comes the iPhone to record both the menu as well as the resulting dish. A great repository of memories, stored for me by my smartphone!

This reminds me of the fake video ‘made on a Nokia Lumia’. “Alongside its TV ads, Microsoft has put up a new webpage called “iPad vs. Windows.” At the bottom of the comparison it says that the ASUS ViviTab “has a bigger touchscreen” than the iPad. False. Elliot Temple did some calculations on his blog, and he was able to determine that Microsoft skewed the numbers to say that the ASUS tablet had a 10.1-inch display vs. the iPad’s 9.7-inch display. “This is not to scale,” according to Elliot. “Microsoft has drawn a 10.1 inch tablet 36% larger than a 9.7 inch tablet (140×78 pixels vs 102×79). This is so far off you can visually see it’s wrong.”” More on this story

Google Considering Buying Waze For Around $1 Billion

Around 5 million' HTC One smartphones sold since launch

It is a great looking phone, better than the Galaxy S4 for sure. “HTC has sold “around five million” of its flagship smartphone, the One, since launch. The impressive figure will abate fears that HTC is dead in the water (the company is struggling internally) but does confirm what we all suspected: it HTC isn’t able to keep up with Samsung in sales. The company’s largest rival in the Android smartphone space recently announced that it’s shipped 10 million Galaxy S4s in less than a month.” Read in full

[From Stephen Trew] Sammy, one of the biggest internet changes is sneaking in under our noses and soon we’ll wake up and realise the world has changed in a big way. The internet has changed communications, music and now it is changing Television. My family watch about half our television using internet catch up services like iPlayer, ITV Player and 4OD. The kids probably watch 75% of TV streaming over the net. There has been much talk of an Apple TV, my guess is they will launch it just at the tipping point and the world will say Apple changed it all, again.

[From Ken (Atlanta, GA)] Sammy, I used my iPhone today to make calls from the US to Asia early this morning while on my way to swim. Made a checklist using Notes to pick up some yard supplies. Checked Email the entire time (way too much) and used Safari to check my usually websites in the morning, including PalmAddicts. Just a normal start to the day on my iPhone.
